Two reasons to hire a skip bin when downsizing

Posted on

If you have decided to move to a smaller house, then you might want to hire a skip bin, to aid you with the downsizing process. Read on to find out why.

It can save you time

Even for those who are not downsizing, the process of moving house can be extremely time-consuming. Every spare moment is spent on things like packing up possessions and notifying people (such as one's doctor, dentist and utility providers) about the change of address.

If you're downsizing, this process will take even longer, as moving into a smaller house usually means that you have to spend a substantial amount of time culling your current collection of belongings, as there won't be enough space to store them in the new property. This, in turn, means that you are going to end up with a large number of rubbish bags, filled with items that need to be thrown away. Disposing of this refuse at the landfill could take several hours, especially if you have a small car that can only hold a few bags at a time, or if the landfill is located far away from your property.

If you'd like to avoid wasting your time travelling to the local rubbish dump, you should hire one or two skip bins. The bin hire company you rent these items from will deliver them to your front door, and after you have filled them with your unwanted possessions, will then collect the filled bins and dispose of the items inside for you. This will allow you focus all of your time and energy on the moving process, instead of wasting it on trips to the landfill.

It can reduce the stress of the moving process

Moving house is widely considered to be one of the most stressful experiences a person can go through. Downsizing can be particularly stress-inducing. There are a couple of reasons why this may be the case.

Firstly, it requires you to get rid of things that you may have developed a sentimental attachment to. Secondly, the resulting bags of rubbish can add to the existing chaos and mess of a house filled with dozens upon dozens of half-packed boxes.

Having a couple of skip bins just outside your home can reduce the stress of downsizing, by providing you with a storage space that is large enough to contain all of the rubbish that you will be getting rid of; this, in turn, will spare you from having to see bags of rubbish strewn over the floors of your already chaotic and messy home.
